How to live in an uncertain world?

In 2018, villagers on the Island of Sulawesi were astonished when the solid ground under them turned to mud. It is called liquefaction, a rare effect during earthquakes. Villages watched in horror as their whole valley became a sea of mud - their houses were swept away in a river that had not existed, the ground split open and people were sucked down. Read more
